It’s “that game with the giant tree that takes up half your table and half your ego if you thought you were a skilled strategist.” In this colorful game, you’ll lead a merry band of woodland animals building an idyllic city among the treetops, gathering berries, wood, resin, and stones — yes, exactly, the components look like gummy candies but DO NOT eat them (seriously, resist).
Starling Games has created a true masterpiece here: many hardcore gamers might raise an eyebrow at this statement, but the authors and illustrators accomplished a really tough feat — creating a title that satisfies everyone, with stunning artwork and a wonderful overall game board view. Sure, it’s not a heavyweight Eurogame or a flashy American game, but here we have a game you can truly, truly suggest to everyone.
And naturally, the success couldn’t be stopped, as five expansions—Pearlbrook, Bellfaire, Spirecrest, Mistwood, and Newleaf—enrich the gameplay with ponds, mountains, trains, spider dens, and more.
