It’s one of those games that doesn’t simply take up space on the table — it conquers it militarily. The third chapter in the acclaimed sci-fi horror saga by Awaken Realms, Nemesis: Retaliation takes everything that made the previous Nemesis games unforgettable — paranoia, betrayal, desperate resource management, and sudden death — and transforms it into an experience that’s even more aggressive, cinematic, and brutal. This time, we’re not just terrified survivors desperately searching for an escape route. No: we’re heavily armed marines, sent directly into the alien nest with a simple and perfectly reasonable plan. Go in. Eliminate everything that moves. Survive long enough to tell the story.
Of course, this still being Nemesis, the plan stops working roughly twelve minutes after the game begins.
Retaliation succeeds at the difficult task of increasing the action without losing the psychological tension that defines the series. The new mechanics make gameplay more dynamic and offensive: combat is more direct, character abilities are more specialized, and equipment management constantly presents meaningful tactical decisions. But beneath all that firepower, the true heart of the game remains untouched: the constant feeling that something is going horribly wrong. And, inevitably, it does.
Every match becomes an emergent horror story. There’s always the player who walks into a room convinced they have everything under control, only to come out engulfed in flames while being chased by something with far too many legs. There’s the one who swears absolute loyalty to the team, only to lock a door at the perfect moment “for strategic reasons.” And above all, there’s that magnificent balance between cooperation and suspicion that Nemesis still handles better than almost any modern board game. You work together because you have to. You betray each other because, very often, it’s convenient.
From a production standpoint, the game is simply massive. Stunning miniatures, a modular board, mountains of cards, tokens, components, and containers — everything contributes to creating that “tabletop blockbuster” feeling that makes even the setup feel like an event. And that’s exactly where the problem begins. Because opening the box of Nemesis: Retaliation means facing a true logistical mission. Preparing the game requires space, time, and a level of organization that would intimidate a NASA operations manager.
And that’s exactly why we at The Dicetroyers decided to step in.
With our organizer for Nemesis: Retaliation, we transformed the chaos inside the box into a perfectly organized machine, ready to deploy onto the table in just a few minutes. This isn’t simply about “tidying up components”: the goal is to genuinely improve the gameplay experience by eliminating downtime, endless token searches, and painfully long setups.
The organizer includes dedicated card holders, removable trays for resources and tokens, precise compartments for miniatures, tiles, and various components, as well as an incredibly practical integrated dice tower. Every element is designed to have a clear and intuitive place, making setup and reboxing fast and effortless. All while remaining perfectly compatible with the game’s original box, with flush closure and support for both sleeved and unsleeved cards.
And let’s be honest: a game like Nemesis: Retaliation deserves a clean, organized table. When aliens start invading the corridors, the last thing you want is to desperately search for a token at the bottom of a plastic bag.
Because yes, surviving the Intruders is difficult. But surviving the setup without a proper organizer… might be even harder.
