Echoes of Time is one of those games that arrives on the table with the elegant, mysterious aura of something that knows perfectly well it’s about to make everyone argue within twenty minutes. Published by our friends at Cranio Creations, the game takes the theme of time travel and turns it into a strategic experience where every choice alters events, balances, and probably your emotional stability as well. At first, everything seems simple: you place cards, alter timelines, and look for tactical advantages. Then someone changes an event in the past and suddenly nobody remembers why half the board still makes sense. That’s the moment you realize the game isn’t simulating temporal chaos — it’s directly creating it in your living room.
The real strength of Echoes of Time is how brilliantly it mixes strategy with controlled confusion. Every turn gives you the illusion of having everything under control, only for your plans to collapse because an opponent decided to “optimize” the timeline — a sophisticated way of saying “ruin your life.” And yet, that’s exactly why the game works: it constantly creates twists, forces players to adapt, and turns every match into a historical thriller written by sleep-deprived people. There’s always someone trying to craft genius-level strategies worthy of a supercomputer, and someone else playing completely at random while somehow getting even better results. Basically, a perfect simulation of adult life.
The components also do their part: beautifully illustrated cards, high-quality materials, and a table presence that immediately says, “this game cost too much, but I regret nothing.” The rulebook, naturally, belongs to that glorious category of manuals that seem crystal clear while you read them and instantly become ancient esoteric texts the moment the game starts. After a few rounds, though, everything clicks into place and the table enters that unmistakable dimension of great modern board games: long silences of concentration interrupted by very serious accusations. “It’s nothing personal” is a phrase that, in Echoes of Time, almost always comes right before devastating sabotage. And perhaps that’s the greatest compliment you can give the game: it creates genuine involvement, the kind of sessions that end with people still debating what would have happened “if you hadn’t changed the past on turn three.”
And of course, we at The Dicetroyers couldn’t just sit back in front of such a wonderful title. Technically, this game doesn’t need an organizer: the components aren’t numerous, and they’re already well arranged inside the game’s excellent insert. And yet, during gameplay, something feels off: paying cards in order to play other cards while holding a 20-card hand isn’t exactly peak ergonomics.
We don’t like leaving anything to chance — neither during setup nor during gameplay — and that’s why, in collaboration with Cranio Creations, we created the official standee set for Echoes of Time. Double card holders designed to organize each turn: on one side you can place the cards you’re paying, and on the other the cards you’re about to play. The rest of your deck stays comfortably in your hand, ready for you to decide exactly how to outplay your opponents and win the game. A simple yet elegant accessory that, once disassembled, fits neatly back into the game box, ready for the next match.
If you want the ultimate setup and gameplay combo, here it is — ready for your next game night. Try it and see for yourself!
