There are board games that have made history. I’m not talking about classics like Risk or Monopoly, which, although even “stones” played them, showed the way for the modern gaming landscape. I’m referring to titles like Carcassonne, Puerto Rico or Dixit, which literally paved the way for market trends like family games, Eurogames or Fillers.
When we get tired of unloading ships full of sugar, placing knights in castles or leafing through oversized cards with colorful illustrations, the first thing that comes to mind is to turn off our brains and turn on the chainsaw. And here comes to our rescue the game in which we roll more dice, draw more miniatures, and make more noise, namely… Zombicide!
When I talk about games that have made history, Zombicide has opened the way for a genre all its own in the “American” boardgame genre panorama (or, and in this case, “Ameritrash”), in which an entire box of living and undead toy soldiers is overturned, with a few simple rules, on modular maps, for the joy of players who, armed with everything from frying pans to baseball bats, dig up zombies better than a combine harvester.
In classic style with Zombicide 2nd edition, medieval style with Black Plague, sci-fi style with Invader, western style with Undead or Alive, or in its cinematic declinations with Night of the Living Dead, this bramd which has reached stratospheric numbers does not cease to amaze us, even after years (it was way back in 2012 when the first Zombicide set foot in stores).
Not content with having awakened from the graves practically half the world of the present, past and future, those bad boys from CMON are now dedicating themselves to the world of superheroes, but this time they are completely overturning the perspective.
Yes, because in Marvel Zombies you will not only be superheroes, but you will also be dead. Or rather, undead. If Hulk smashes, his counterpart from beyond the grave demolishes, and he is very, very hungry. Iron Man, Captain America, Wasp and many other idols of the Avengers group will be busy, in this apocalypse in reverse, trying to satiate their hunger by devouring SHIELD agents, passers-by and anything with scraps of living flesh attached to their bones.
The rules of Zombicide are more or less the same, but this is about superheroes, dammit, so having a copy of Marvel Zombies on your shelves is a must if you like popping plastic heads on a table.
As usual, there is no shortage of organization problems, especially during gameplay. For those who are resigning themselves to play Tetris when putting away the miniatures, we at The Dicetroyers lend a hand: there is still hope!
Our organizer for Marvel Zombies, in fact, has everything you need to avoid going crazy with miniatures, cards and tokens. Card holders with dedicated slots, token holders and player set container, but above all our Zombie Box: thanks to this rack container you will no longer have to occupy hectares of table, but above all you will remove the anguish of extracting and storing dozens of miniatures from the thermoformed trays of the original game.
Because if we want a Zombicide (or, in this case, a SHIELDcide), there is no room for chaos. Try it and believe it!
