Small, hard-working creatures that build immense colonies—stuff that makes Mexico City or Jakarta look like sleepy provincial towns: ants are fascinating and wonderful animals, until you find them marching through your house, of course.
Management board games are fascinating animals too, until you reach the final turn with no resources left, of course.
Ants is yet another masterpiece from Cranio Creations, taking us into a small forest nook, both inside and outside our colony. The Queen, who watches over and commands everything, will grant us bonuses and guidance during the game, but it will be up to us little worker players to search for leaves and food, properly feed the larvae, and, naturally, keep worms, spiders, and pesky intruders at bay.
A tight game, with fast turns and that classic resource hunger found, in part, in games like Agricola: to win we’ll have to carefully ration resources and grow our colony at just the right moment, or face a famine that will be hard to recover from.
A medium-to-heavy weight in the Eurogame landscape, this gaming gem made a big splash at Essen 2025 and is now proudly displayed on the shelves of countless entomologists—or players, or both.
What is unbearable, however, is the setup: hundreds of cards, tokens, and meeples to sort out, with nothing but a few scattered ziplock bags to keep the chaos under control.
And since the key to a proper colony is order, we at The Dicetroyers armed ourselves with our proverbial worker-ant patience and created dedicated spaces to house these little creatures: our organizer for Ants not only keeps cards—sleeved ones included—and tokens safe, but also lets you get the game to the table in no time.
