And THAT time of year has finally arrived: tabletop nerds of all Italy, unite!
The story of what is now the largest fair dedicated to board games in the Bel Paese was born, like many good things, from the bottom, when this sector was small “like a chick just hatched from the egg”. There was so much passion and few, very few people who enjoyed it. In a dusty sports hall in the city of Modena, these people decided to gather as many tables as possible and fill them with tokens, meeples and scoreboards.
Perhaps at the beginning, those who peeked in through the entrance would have expected tables filled with fried dumplings and tigelle: but few years later the awareness grew together with what would become Modena Play, the player’s Eldorado.
And like a good “panettone”, the leavening was slow and unstoppable: but this year the promoters were forced to change the location, moving to Bologna City.
After the pandemic, The Play fair literally exploded and established itself as the definitive event for board and role-playing games, for hard gamers and beyond, bringing more than 120,000 people to visit its wonders in 2024.
This year, like every year, there will be the most important players and, of course, many of our friends: from Pendragon to Cranio, from Hasbro to Asmodee, from Need Games to Little Rocket, from Grumpy Bear to MS Edizioni, large and small publishers will be ready at the controls to let you taste the latest gaming delicacies. And what better place than Bologna, one of the Italian capitals of cuisine?
Of course, we at The Dicetroyers will be there too, to bring some order to the chaos and, of course, to show you all our new products!
