Nowdays the variations in the world of modern board games are infinite: from collaborative to competitive genre, from party games to “heavy game”, from creating chairs in Zimbabwe to exterminating zombies in China: there is a game for every genre and taste.
Lately, many games for couple of players have become popular; but only and exclusively for 2 players. Whether it’s the roommate, the better half, or when the whole friends group ditches and there are only two of you, there will always be something playable to put on the table.
You might be led to think that a title for two means a small filler game, or one that lasts half an hour and that’s it; but you are evidently surprised by a title like, for example, Star Wars: Rebellion, where two players will simply have to decide whether the galaxy will be in the hands of the Empire or the Rebel Alliance, in no less than 3 hours of gameplay to boot.
So, yes! There are some great 2-players heavy games, but history teaches us that “in medio stat virtus”, and the proof is the title that has been played in couples perhaps more than any others: 7 Wonders: Duel. Legitimate son of the very famous 7 Wonders, which has given so much joy to neophytes and not, this gaming pearl is perhaps one of the most successful adaptations to the duel-kind boardgame: every mechanic and component of its big brother has been shaped and modeled to give to couples’ evenings an unforgettable experience, with the base game or even with the expansions Pantheon and Agora.
Therefore Repos decided to repeat, changing era and theme, with The Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-Earth.
Here we are, ready for the battle for Middle Earth reshaped for two players (obviously, the forces of good and evil…), in a race against time always divided into 3 eras, with mechanics very similar to 7 Wonders: Duel but with the addition of troop placement on the map (it is still a war, after all).
Cards, meeples, tokens and tiles. The components are not so many, but neither the duration of the game, and we at The Dicetroyers wanted to seize the opportunity to give you the fastest setup ever, with our organizer for The Lord of The Rings: Duel for middle-earth. Trays for each player, card holder with stand and tray for alliance tokens that fits perfectly into the game map, to go to battle in a few seconds.
