Today we talk about contaminations. Not the ones that ruin ecosystems or sterile rooms, but the positive ones, the ones between different genders, so to speak.

It happens sometimes that mixing distinct categories, like punk and hip hop, or the red and the blonde dye, or even finches of Madagascar and the Galapagos, leads to surprising results. And sometimes merging genres at the antipodes can lead to disaster, or enormous success.

And in this case it was a success for Frostpunk, which was born a few years ago from 11 bit Studios, author, among other video games, of This War of Mine.

Eclectic, unconventional and, if it wasn’t for the resounding success, almost “indie”, these brilliant Poles have churned out some respectable pearls in the videogame panorama.

The imperative of their games is to survive despite wars, cold and riots, using mechanics typically belonging to genres that are certainly not based on survival logic, such as management.

Therefore, a title like Frostpunk, where a city builder is contaminated with a management and a survival, could not fail to end up on our tables, and if Awaken Realms has expertly brought This War of Mine into the tableau scene (check out our setupper for This War of Mine here), Glass Cannon has done so same with Frostpunk.

Collaborative game for 1 to 4 players, this leviathanic title by Adam Kwapiński (author of other table flip games such as Nemesis, for example – here you will find all our solutions for Nemesis) will put even the most expert players to the test, who will spend wonderful hours of gameplay trying not to let workers and engineers die, and… trying to keep children warm, fed and happy around the huge Generator. Enormous sacrifices will have to be made, but if they are worth for the victory, they will be a fair price to pay.

And if a brutal gameplay wasn’t enough, where every single decision will be made on the razor’s edge separating success from catastrophe, the setup of this game is disaster waiting to happen. Countless tokens, cards and resources will be distributed in an unspecified number of planks and maps, bringing despair even before the first round.

Frostpunk has been one of the video games which we broke many “gaming mouse” and we had lot of fun with, so it was a duty to organize its “cousin” tabletop properly, or at least to make it playable within human times.

And here our Frostpunk organizer is! With 23 trays, organizing this tabletop colossus will no longer be a nightmare. Dedicated slots for single building, deck of cards, resource and meeple will accompany you to victory or, perhaps more likely, to the massacre but, in both cases, without wasting unnecessary time.

Because winter has arrived and wasting time turning on the generator is the first thing to avoid to survive. Let the fight begin, and bring the heat of a quick setup to all your scenarios!
