When you think of a comfortable and free means of transport, what comes to mind? The bicycle, of course!

So maybe it’s no coincidence that even as adults we’re still passionate about two wheels without an engine. After all, who hasn’t heard of Fausto Coppi, Eddy Merckx, or Lance Armstrong?
Cycling is one of those sports that has fascinated just about everyone. Lounging on the sofa while watching packs of athletes climb mountains—not with crampons, but on wheels—might be a little sadistic, but it’s also deeply satisfying.
And when you discover that a stage of the Tour de France is about 180 km long—roughly the average width of the English Channel—you can’t help but think that anyone who rides 21 of those in less than a month is part superhero, part madman.
