And here we are talking about the famous “monster” in the world of board games.

It was the year 2008 and a nice German guy named Uwe Rosenberg, whose fame in the gaming news rose thanks to a title that bears the name of Agricola (which we couldn’t help but organise) destined to become a great classic, came out with another game in pure German style: Le Havre.

The name of the city, known but not too much, combined with the fact that here at the mouth of the Seine has existed one of the most famous ports in Europe for centuries, could not fail to excite, at least on paper, the palates of the most demanding Eurogamers: Ships, logistics and resource management, what more could you want?

This game has brought home countless nominations for the most coveted awards in the world of board games such as the Spiel Des Jahres in the heavy board games category and the As D’Or; several years after its release, we still hear about Le Havre as the title to take as an example for creating a game engine through resource management.

The beauty of this title lies in the fact that, faced with an ever-changing offer of goods, from meat to clay, from fish to wheat, given by the comings and goings of merchant ships at the port of Le Havre, players will have to exploit every opportunity to build its own resource acquisition and transformation engine through the construction of increasingly larger and more technological buildings. The feeling during the game is very similar to that of a city builder like Simcity: starting from four shacks and some resources at the docks, you will be able to move transatlantic liners that will transport tons of all kinds of goodies, stored or transformed by our buildings that will give prestige to the city; and of course, at the end of the game whoever has the most coins will be the winner.

Le Havre Complete Edition, released in 2021, also includes the Le Grand Hameau expansion, which adds a plethora of buildings and ships to this already vast port world.

And it is precisely on this latter edition that we created our Le Havre organizer, which is also compatible with the other versions. No longer being able to bear all those tokens dispersed on the game board? Not to mention the countless decks and stacks to manage during setup: we thought of creating a product that not only eliminates the time wasted to setup a game, but which also allows a fluid and less choatic gameplay. The 8 boxes for the resources and the coin purse, in fact, have the exact dimensions of the spaces on the game board: just position them and voilà, the game is ready. Also, the card holder has slots for each type of deck, to keep everything in order and easily manageable, once the box is opened.

Because a gaming masterpiece deserves a masterpiece of organizer. N’est-ce pas?
